hello from the road!

Hi! Hope your July is off to a great start!
This is just a quick hello from the road before I head into the workshop I will be attending which starts tomorrow(!!!)
After a (pretty intense) 4 day drive from Winnipeg, fuelled by Sweedish berries, cold brew coffee and popcorn -
I'm headed to a school of craft that's nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
It's a 2 week immersive workshop where I'll be eat, sleep and drinking the ancient art of lost wax casting, which I know almost nothing about! Exciting!
I'm very much looking forward to being a student again, and I'm definitely feeling all the nerves and excitement of "the first day of school"
I'll be staying in a dorm, and they are providing all the meals as well so you can completely focus on the craft. (I'm guessing it might feel a bit like summer camp :)
My hope for this experience is to allow space to explore, to make things just for the joy of it, find inspiring techniques that will translate into new and meaningful pieces I can share with you sweet people, and to just learn.
Having space to just think and BE.
Travelling and seeing new places, seeing how people dress, overhearing conversations of locals, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, visiting as many vintage + antique shops as I can and even seeing how folks arrange their front yards seems to re wire things + allow new ideas to flow in.
Reporting to you from inside this cute camper!
It's where I'm staying at before I head to my workshop tomorrow. Part of a funky hostel in West Asheville, NC.
At night you can hear the crickets chirping and there are fireflies too. I forgot about those.
Magic!
Shortly after this 2 week stint in the Mountains, I'll pop back in with a recap of the course.
Til then pals, I hope you find some magic for yourselves this summer, whatever that looks like for you! You deserve it!
xo
