Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Sometimes you get a little lost.

(for some reason, google maps took me down some very rural roads in Kentucky)

I’m not heading into my workshop as mentioned in my previous newsletter.
At the time I sent it, I didn’t have a clear understanding of how severe things were in western North Carolina. With a mix of denial and naivete, I was remaining hopeful that things would still continue on mostly as planned - just a bit late. I was holding on.

I am deeply lucky to be only disappointed. I am safe - Many people have lost their homes, businesses, and loved ones. This beautiful area has been devastated by the effects of hurricane Helene. Luckily, the school I was headed to was relatively unharmed although there is still significant damage. Some roads are just now passable with others still blocked but damaged, and they are working on restoring basic services like water, power and cell service. Neighbouring towns are flooded. It will take a while to rebuild and my thoughts are with everyone whose lives have been altered by this disaster.

Everything I did this year (and the one prior) was building and working toward these next few weeks, as this was the larger of the two workshops I would be attending during this time, (with the first one completed earlier this summer). To fulfill a dream that I have had for many years to learn these skills. A lot was put on the line to make these changes to go, but it felt like the right move as it means so much personally and to further my work. Stopping everything and not doing markets, especially at a time of year which typically is the busiest that carries me through to the next. It was a big leap and it is a big blow.
Now that’s all changed, I’m in a bit of shock that it’s not happening, so it’s going to take me a moment to figure out what my next steps are. Truthfully right now, I have NO IDEA what to do next, but I know I’ll figure it out.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted as I continue on, and please know that your excitement for me and your kind words I have received about this lil' journey are something I hold very close.

Be well friends. Lots of love to you all.

treats that awaited my arrival back home. Chips, chocolate and supplies to make Palomas.

Everything is going to be ok.
